Kanga, a lost soul with sores & peeling skin, embodies the plight of the suffering, a reminder of the urgent need for compassion and respect.

"A Tale of Suffering Etched on a Stray Dog's Skin

This summer has been harsh and unforgiving for stray animals, as reported by Stray Rescue of St. Louis. Among the rescued souls, Kanga's plight stands out, his skin telling a heartrending tale of neglect and anguish.

Describing one of the most severe cases of mange they've encountered in their 25-year history, Stray Rescue of St. Louis shared Kanga's distressing photos on Facebook, expressing their heartache at his dire condition.

Kanga's body bears painful sores, flaking skin, and a hairless coat that resembles zebra stripes due to the folds of skin etched upon it. His eyes speak volumes to his rescuers, reflecting a heart as shattered as their own. The organization writes, "We can feel his broken heart through his eyes. He is completely defeated. We are so, so sorry this has happened to you…"

Kanga's tall, prominent ears have led some to speculate that he may be a German Shepherd, though his true identity will only fully emerge after he embarks on his journey to recovery.

Stray Rescue of St. Louis has a comprehensive plan to nurse Kanga back to health, recognizing the long road ahead. Their promise is unwavering: "We will give him medicated baths, antibiotics for infections, nutritious food, and so much LOVE."
