The puppy was just found in a storage container, in an alley, this evening. He has large gashes that look like bite wounds. He also appears to have large hematomas on his ears and secondary skin infections just about everywhere. All of the areas that are discolored are from the oozing of puss. This, along with parasites, is what was assessed minutes upon arriving at the Vet.
It's heartbreaking to hear about an animal being left alone in a storage container due to being sick, weak, or appearing "ugly." Every animal deserves care, compassion, and a chance for a better life, regardless of their appearance or health condition.
If you encounter a situation where an animal has been abandoned or left in distress, here are some steps you can consider taking:
Immediate Care: If the animal is in a dire condition, seek immediate veterinary attention. A veterinarian can assess the animal's health, provide necessary medical treatment, and offer guidance on how to care for it.
Provide Shelter and Comfort: If you're able to do so safely, move the animal to a quiet and safe space where it can rest. Provide food, water, and a comfortable place to lie down.
Contact Animal Welfare Organizations: Reach out to local animal shelters, rescue groups, or animal control. They have the expertise and resources to handle such situations and can provide the necessary care and rehabilitation for the animal.
Document the Situation: Take photos or videos of the animal's condition as evidence. This can be helpful if legal action needs to be taken against the person responsible for abandoning the animal.
